@brody The BAD boats are officially coming to the game at some point in the future. It takes a lot of work to do these models, so please be patient with us.

RE: New versions of boats
@brody New models are already in the works. I don't know for sure if the GP-101 is one of them, but there's a good chance it is.

RE: getting started in a league.
@craig-melody I assume you're in the Discord server already. If not, you'll have to join (it's free). If so, go to the Announcements section and you'll find a snhl page. That page has all the information you need to join the league. There's a registration form that was initially posted May 1 that you'll need to fill out. There's also a pronunciation form to fill out that was initially posted August 18 so your name will be pronounced properly on the Facebook live streams. Good luck.

RE: Force Feedback Progress?
@nelliott The appdata and LocalLow folders are probably hidden by default. In the settings (in Windows 11), go to the Privacy & Security tab (just above Windows Update at the bottom), select For Developers, select the File Explorer tab and the Show hidden files and folders option should be available to change. The appdata and LocalLow folders will show up after that. If you're using Windows 10, the process should be similar.

RE: boat size
@unleashed-super the Unlimiteds range from about 28 to 36 feet with most of the current fleet between 29 and 30 feet

RE: Boost Button
@satoshi It's my understanding the boost function hasn't been implemented yet, just the button assignment. When it's available to use, it'll be manual. Scott can correct me if I'm wrong.

RE: Problem seeing/picking up buoys
The yellow entry/exit buoys do need to be bigger than they currently are. https://photos.smugmug.com/photos/i-MVDrXMd/0/O/i-MVDrXMd.jpg

RE: how do you add paint sceams to the game
@chadskull I made some step-by-step instructions on how to do this.

RE: Sound problem
When you don't have sound, are you driving on a course or sitting at the docks? If it happens at the docks, most likely you probably haven't started the engine yet. If happens on a course, check the master game volume under settings/general to see if the game sound has been turned down.
If that isn't the case, try doing a fresh re-install of the game. Since you're using the v0.8.0.0-b3, which is a beta/test version of the game, the file structure is different from the v0.7.1.0 version. If you installed the v0.8.0.0-b3 version over the top of the v0.7.1.0 version, the file structure will be wrong and the game probably doesn't know where to look for the sound files. A fresh install will fix this.
I hope this helps.

RE: I did try.
@picko There's currently a league race going on, thus the password. Normally, there is no password for the official servers.

RE: Why not Unreal instead of Unity?
I think I remember Scott saying something about the water physics were better in Unity when he first started development. Scott can correct me if I'm wrong.

RE: Unity new Input System testing
Thrustmaster T248 seems to work in the tester
-
RE: new races
My guess is if they do come to the sim, it will be a while. With the GPs being beta released recently (more GP courses should be coming) and Scott's family about to get bigger, he may not have much time to work on new unlimited courses.
There's also been talk of removing some courses we already have due to file size limitations, so adding more right now might be a problem.

RE: 80’s Vintage Class
Eventually when we have models for the boats. We still don't have all the available models implemented in the game yet, so it's gonna take time.
-
RE: Competing
We're currently in the off season, so there probably won't be many people on right now. If there are people on the servers, they will most likely be on in the evenings.

RE: Get friends to race
@braceru31 The server runs in the background, so you won't see it open. If you look in the Task Manager, an instance of HydroSim will be running. That's the server. You can then open the game with your main shortcut and use your server.
-
RE: Get friends to race
@braceru31 try changing the -tickRate from 30 to 20 and see if that works
-
RE: Water effects
It's my understanding that Scott plans to try to fix the water physics in a future update.

RE: How do I edit a .DDS File?
Step-by-step instructions for saving dds files in Photoshop
-
When you are ready to save your skin as a dds, you will need to flatten the layers so it is in one (1) layer. To do this, go to the Layer menu and select the Flatten Image option.
-
The program will then ask you if you want to discard any hidden layers. Click the OK button.
-
You then need to save the image using the Save As option. Be careful not to select the Save option. If you do, you will lose your layers. (If that happens at this point in the process, go to the History window (Window/History) and click on the line titled Open and the file will revert back to the state it was before you flattened the layers. You can then save the file again and it will be fine.) This is the step where you need to slow down if you're trying to get things done as fast as possible so you don't make a mistake. You'll actually save time by doing this step slowly.
-
Once the Save As window opens, go down to the Format drop down menu and the dds file format should be an option if you installed the plug-in correctly. Select it and then hit the Save button.
-
The nvidia dds plug-in window then opens. Select the type of dds file you want to save your skin as. Select DXT1 for a main paint scheme or DXT5 for a metallic file if the scheme doesn’t use the default met files. You can then hit the Save button and let the plug-in do its thing. You’ll know when it's done. You can then close the file and move to the next file or you can close the program.

RE: How do I edit a .DDS File?
I should be able to do the '82 version since I have plans to update the '81 version anyway.
